of physical fitness.We encourage you
to learn more about the Council, our
work, and the opportunities for you to
become involved. A commitment to
promoting fitness by you is part of your
responsibility as a fitness and
business leader in your community.
The California Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports is a non-profit organization
established to promote the Governor's message to establish California as the nation's Fitness State
with all Californians striving to meet their personal physical fitness and health goals. The Governor's
Council will raise awareness and promote physical fitness and sports for all Californians through its
web site, publications, programs and special events.
Through the Governor's Council will encourage all Californians to be physically active 30-60 minutes
a day to maintain health and well-being, increase Californians participation and awareness by
promoting physical fitness and sports programs statewide and establish early habits of physical
activity in California's youngest citizens.
The Governor has designated celebrity athletes and business and community leaders as members
of his Governor's Council. This distinguished group of Californians volunteers their time to attend
bi-annual meetings, help the governor spread the message and directs the work of the Council staff.
