| Donald DeMars International was originally formed as an architectural and interior design firm in 1975 under the name Donald DeMars Associates. The company’s focus in the early years was positioned toward creating innovative medical environments that were less institutional and less intimidating. This special interest soon expanded into other medical environments, including rehabilitation. Over the years, the company increasingly narrowed its focus toward the health and fitness industry as a specialty, and soon broadened its service capabilities to include project development consulting (site selection, business planning and feasibility analysis), architectural and interior design services, and management and operational consulting. By the end of 1989, the company had expanded its influence on a national basis, having designed and helped develop facilities in all 50 states. In addition, by this date, the company had completed the design of numerous facilities on an international basis. The company then changed it's name to Donald DeMars International. To take better advantage of both immediate and growing opportunities for the design of health, fitness, wellness, and ambulatory medicine centers in the 1990s, the company expanded its links with other architectural firms. These new relationships sought to bring together the knowledge and expertise of Donald DeMars International in programming, operational design, and development consulting in the health, fitness, wellness, and rehabilitation industries, with more localized general architectural support wherever the projects were being developed. This has proven to be a very valuable tool in keeping projects on time and on budget. |
